Description Stage 5
This is the stage that concludes our Tour. The stage is short but should not be underestimated. We start from the seafront of Brolo and immediately begin to climb towards the village of Ficarra on a wide and well-paved road. The flat crossing of the characteristic village allows us to catch our breath for a bit. The following 4 km. uphill will take us to a beautiful road on the crest at an altitude of 650 meters, offering beautiful views of the Aeolian Islands. This will be followed by a long and technical descent (caution is advised!) that will bring us back down towards the sea.
At around kilometer 27,00 the timed trial begins!!: It is approximately 5 km. long with an elevation gain of 275 meters (average slope 5,5%).
It features several changes in slope that will make it difficult to find a constant rhythm. Those who still have sufficient energy in their legs can try to improve their position in the rankings!
After completing the trial, we will head non-stop into the town of Piraino, where a refreshment will be waiting for us in one of the most beautiful and panoramic spots of the entire Tour!
