Description Stage 4

his is the longest and most challenging stage of the entire Tour. We start from the square of Gliaca di Piraino near the Residence Riviera del Sole at 8.30. The first 25 km. are mostly along the coastal road with undulating terrain. A short 1.2 km. climb will take us to the Sanctuary of Tindari, where a light refreshment is available, and we can admire a beautiful view of the Marinello Lakes. At around kilometer 38,00, we leave the coastal road and begin a long and steady climb that will bring us closer to the timed trial.

Just outside the village of Basicò, at around kilometer 54,20 the timed trial begins!!: It is 8.3 km. long with a positive elevation gain of approximately 300 meters (average slope 2.8%).

This is a very fast trial where it will often be possible to use a high gear: the strongest athletes can achieve an excellent average speed! The trial ends in the town of Montalbano Elicona, where a rich refreshment awaits us, and we will regroup.

After the break, we will continue with a slight climb on a long and easy false flat until we reach kilometer 80,00 where we will encounter the State Road 116, starting the long descent that will bring us to the end of this stage in Brolo where Sicilian-style baked pasta will be offered by Demetra Bar and Monastra end co. wineshop.
